About Stringybark Day Care Centre

Welcome to Stringybark Learning Centre!

Stringybark has been educating and caring for children for the past 39 years. Our features are:

  • long-serving team
  • A nutritious, delicious meal
  • Early intervention services offered
  • Diversity and multiculturalism celebrated
  • Family-owned and operated service.
  • We provide an inquiry-based learning environment where educators are co-creators with the children as we discover and investigate the world around us.
  • The aim of our program is to present children with challenging experiences in a beautiful environment. We respect the rights of children to be able to learn in a warm and supportive environment. We challenge children intellectually, socially, and physically by engaging with them on their own level and at their own pace.
  • Our play-based learning program includes carefully planned, well-resourced activities that are guided by the children's interests and developmental stages. In the past, some of our interests and projects have focused on things like the roles people play in our community, dinosaurs, marine life, and international holidays. Play dough, sand play, obstacle courses, messy arts and crafts, outdoor games, unstructured free play, painting, cooking, singing, building with blocks and construction toys, sharing rhymes and songs'—the list of daily activities is endless.
  • In the preschool room, we focus on developing the skills that children need to become lifelong learners. Stringybark educators are highly trained to educate and nurture the children in the preschool room, especially those who are transitioning to big school the following year. The program allows children to explore as they become critical thinkers. The children in this age group love to engage in conversations, and our educators take the time to encourage them to express themselves.

I started sending my second child to Stringybark after noticing that his previous daycare, one of the big franchise childcare centres, did not provide enough attention and care. Now, I have also enrolled my third child full-time after attending both Stringybark’s Christmas party and the big centre’s End of Year Christmas party. Here’s an honest comparison: the big centre’s party felt more like a “photo session” for parents. Each class performed one or two songs, but not every child was meaningfully engaged. In contrast, Stringybark’s party was engaging for everyone, and it was clear the children had learned and practiced a lot. Moreover, I could observe that Stringybark’s children are much calmer and social while children at the other big centre are much noisier. To be honest, Gita and Stringybark’s educators actually educate children and pay attention to children’s behaviour so that they can encourage good behaviours and improve/correct wrong ones while big centre’s system did not pay that level of attention to children. I also noticed that Stringybark’s children are much calmer and more social, while the big centre’s children tend to be noisier. Gita and the educators at Stringybark genuinely educate the children and pay attention to their behaviour, encouraging good habits and addressing any issues. In comparison, the big centre’s system lacked this level of attention, ie, they only care when one of children starts crying & just cuddle the child without attempting to address issues or spot behavioural issues. They seemed focused on government assessments and grading - they worked hard to maintain appearances, but staff turnover was high, and the supervising manager was often busy with multiple franchises. When my second child struggled with social and speaking skills, Stringybark quickly identified the issue and implemented the best approach to support him. The big centre, on the other hand, struggled to go beyond meeting basic needs. While other daycare centres may have fancier facilities, the quality of education is what truly matters, and Stringybark excels in this area. I plan to keep my second and third children at Stringybark until they reach school age because I am confident they will meet all their educational and developmental needs, including social, emotional, physical, and literacy education. If you want your child to receive real, nurturing, quality education, send them to Stringybark.
