When my daughter first started at this centre, it was a wonderful place with caring educators who were genuinely invested in the children’s learning and wellbeing. Unfortunately, over the past year or more, the standard of care has declined significantly. There has been a very high turnover of staff and multiple centre managers in a short period of time, resulting in a lack of stability. From what families were told and what we observed, much of this turnover appeared to stem from ongoing internal and personal issues within the centre rather than staff simply choosing to move on. Many educators appeared disengaged, and there was noticeably less focus on the children’s learning and development. Families were misled about staff absences, being told educators were “off sick” when this was not the case. The constant changes and lack of clear communication with families made it difficult to feel confident and comfortable in the centre. New educators were placed into leadership roles very quickly and without continuity. During this period, my daughter no longer seemed comfortable at the centre, and I noticed a negative change in her behaviour that had not been present previously. There was also a serious safety incident where my child, along with another child, was able to leave the playground unnoticed, pass through classroom areas, and reach the front desk area of the centre, without educators being aware the children were missing at the time. After speaking with multiple other parents, it became clear these concerns were not isolated. Several families had already removed, or were in the process of removing, their children for the same reasons. While there was one educator who consistently went above and beyond and showed genuine care and effort for the children and families, one good educator is not enough to outweigh the broader and ongoing issues within the centre. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this centre.
