Lily's Learning Home

I am Lily. I'm from China and have settled in Wynnum since 2005. I can speak both Mandarin and English.

I have been in early childhood education since 2008. I worked in a long day care service for six years before starting my family day care.

I have diploma of early childhood education, current first aid certificate and blue card. 

I live in an environment friendly house at Wynnum north with my family. My husband and I designed downstairs day care space. 

We love nature and sustainability. We have budgies, native stingless bee hives, gardens, fruit trees, mud/sand pits and the whole open planned downstairs space for children to explore and play in. 

I follow a child led free play based approach. I design the program to cater for each child’s individual needs. 

We have rich learning experiences of activities at home, excursions, bush walks, nature play, play group, participating community events...  

I believe the bond the children build with others and a gentle nurturing environment to play and grow in at their own pace during early years play an important role on their lifelong wellbeing and happiness.

I appreciate the trust from the families who have their children in my care. I have met lots of lovely people in the community and have become friends with them. 

I respect the families’ role as their children’s primary carers. I love learning from the families to provide the suitable care for their children. 

I love spending time with different children and learning with them.

I am grateful to be able to share a special part of life journey together with the children who have come to my day care and life.
