Appalling communication from all staff on first day of my child starting – and all subsequent follow up conversations since. My child, who is generally very happy and easy to distract (if upset), apparently was beside himself all day in their care. The centre didn’t think to contact either my wife or I to ask if this was normal behaviour or give the option to collect him at any point during the day – something we easily could have managed. At pick-up time the staff simply said he was a bit teary, and no photos were uploaded for us to view. It took 3 days for the centre to highlight that he had not had a good day hence the reason for no photos. As a parent who puts their trust in a childcare centre to have the best interests at heart for their child, it wasn’t so much that my child was upset all day, but the lack of communication that this had occurred and options or suggestions on how we could all work to remedy this. We expected childcare to work with us, the parents, for the benefit of our child. We have heard subsequently that this childcare centre had a change of management at the end of 2024, after we had toured then enrolled our child. This change is not in our experience to the benefit of the children or families attending this centre. We have promptly moved our child to another centre (where he is thriving).
