Jack & Jill Kindergarten Mosman

The kindness of these educators and the community has forever changed our family! The best measure for me is when drifting off to sleep, our child shares her thoughts on her educators. Unprompted, she said “all of my teachers are kindful”. She drifted off to sleep feeling happy and safe, thinking about it. (We know what it’s like when she hasn’t felt consistently this way in other places!) To know that all her interactions are with safe and loving teachers of life is all I could ask for. Their standards in the way they run their centre, keep their kitchen immaculately clean, keep a beautiful space, listen to our needs and communicate with the forefront of our child’s wellbeing in mind… This permeates through to the health of the children, playful education about healthy eating, her calmness and happiness when she comes home, the way she warmly identifies as a “possum” at Jack and Jill (not just referring to it as a “daycare”). Things I now know to ask future daycares because of how Jack and Jill have shown me are important factors are: -How many permanent vs casual staff are there? (Mainly perm! So much consistency. Happy and consistent staff members.) -How many children vs teachers in the room and the centre? (I always feel surrounded by calm children and educators and the centre feels like one community- never only 1 educator, always 2/3) -How do they address biting or hitting in the room? (All the kids are kind and behaviour is compassionately addressed) -What is an example of late snack? (Healthy fruit and veg platter everyday, leading to a calm kid at home happy to eat dinner) -What activities? (in-house soccer and yoga means I don’t need to stress about arranging this. She has built confidence in these) I have had experienced bad transitions and the two transitions here went well - both to the centre and changing rooms. Bottom line- they listen, they care. It feels easy. They’ve enabled us to shine! We are forever grateful for the beautiful culture in this daycare!
