About Guardian Childcare & Education Kilsyth

Welcome to Guardian Childcare & Education Kilsyth! Our centre in Kilsyth provides a nurturing 'home away from home' for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, creating a space where they can learn, play, and grow.

Children experience an exciting program, where they learn through play. At our Guardian Kilsyth child care, we ensure children always have opportunities to engage their natural curiosity. From the way we read stories, to the fun educational resources that fill our rooms, we aim to inspire awe and curiosity in everything we do.

On any given day your child may be exploring our outdoor environments, participating in music classes, learning about food and nutrition, learning self-care through regular yoga and mindfulness practice or learning about diversity through exposure to a wide range of cultures.

The indoor spaces at our Centre balance calming, natural resources with pops of gentle colours. The children have access to a wide range of quality resources that align with their interests and developmental needs. They can read books, play with toys or create their own imaginative play adventures.

The inspiring natural outdoor space is ideal for discovery and play. We believe in encouraging a connection to nature from a young age. Not only does it encourage a necessary appreciation and respect for our planet, but it creates a sense of calm and wonder as nothing else can. From the teepee to the sandpit, bikes, stepping stones and impressive fort, the children develop their physical and gross motor skills while they play outdoors. Large windows connect the indoor and outdoor spaces to offer flexibility in our program.

Bit of a read, and won't be surprised if the Guardian corporate machine has a response for it all, but here we go. - Educators doing their absolute best despite being overworked and underpaid. None of this is a reflection on them or their hard work. - My son (known to run hot) was overdressed and put outside on a stretcher bed next to a main road on a warm day and had a totally avoidable febrile seizure as a result, with a trip to hospital required and us left to foot the ambulance bill due to their inability to make accurate judgement calls. Handled very poorly and in a way that screamed PR team cover up. - Every other day there would be a 'problem' - which I believe reflects more on the educators being stretched extremely thin and unable to deliver adequate care. No problems at new facility (because he's not a problem... :). - Changed app from OWNA (can see food, nappies, sleep) to Storypark plus paper records kept on site - no way to see any information unless viewing on pick up - not helpful for planning ahead or those at home. Excuse: 'too busy with the children to update information' despite other Guardian locations and other branded facilities providing this information with ease. - Son often returned home filthy, totally overfed and overstimulated, a difference most notable now he's in care elsewhere. - Manager and assistant manager resigned on the same day which should have been a huge red flag in hindsight. Massive staff turnover with new faces seemingly every week. - New manager very difficult to get in contact with. Would I recommend? Depends on how low your standards are for your child's care and well being. Management obviously rules the roost - educators again are great, but ultimately not the ones making the important calls.
