⭐ 1 Star As a family experiencing serious domestic violence circumstances, I trusted Goodstart Croydon South with my son's safety after thoroughly explaining our high-risk situation and providing extensive supporting documentation, including a detailed safety plan and ACCS approval. I was extremely disappointed to discover that a serious safety-related incident had occurred, yet I was not notified by management or reception staff at the time. I only became aware of the incident after a kindergarten teacher mentioned it the following day, at which point I had to approach reception staff myself to seek information. The day after this incident came to light, my son's care was terminated immediately due to a disputed fee issue, despite the centre being fully aware of our vulnerable circumstances and ongoing safety concerns. The disputed fees relate to absence days for which no childcare subsidy was applied. These absences occurred when my son and I were required to leave our home and seek safe accommodation due to domestic violence risks. I have spoken with Centrelink on three separate occasions and have been advised that these absences may qualify as explained absences under emergency circumstance provisions. Despite this advice, Goodstart have refused to amend the attendance records or acknowledge this position, or investigate further. Throughout this process, I have felt there has been a significant lack of compassion, and consideration for the safety implications of the circumstances my son and I are face everyday. Victims of family violence already navigate immense challenges, and the additional stress, uncertainty, and pressure created by this situation has been overwhelming to say the least. I have requested records relating to the incident and an explanation of the procedures that were followed but remain deeply concerned about how this matter was handled. The matter is ongoing, and I have sought assistance from relevant government departments and my local parliamentary representative regarding my concerns. I have never felt such a lack of care and understanding from a business that was fully aware of the circumstances affecting my son and me. I would like to make it clear that this review is not directed at the kindergarten teachers, who were consistently kind, caring, professional, and exceptional in their care of my son. My concerns relate specifically to centre management, administrative processes, and the handling of this matter at a management level.
