Feels Like Home Family Day Care – Philosophy Statement

‘Feels Like Home Family Day Care (FDC)’ provides high quality education and care in a loving, enriching environment that promotes play-based learning. Guided by ‘The Early Years Learning Framework’ and ‘My Time Our Place (School Age Framework)’ each child is encouraged to work at their own pace to reach their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual potential. Children are encouraged to attempt new challenges to achieve their goals. 

At ‘Feels Like Home FDC’ children confidently explore social and physical environments through positive relationships and play. The children are encouraged to openly express their feelings and emotions while maintaining respectful relationships with other children, educators, parents, coordinators and the community. ‘Feels Like Home FDC’ provides an environment for children to reach out for comfort and assistance as they explore a sense of Belonging.  

‘At Feels Like Home FDC ‘children are accepted for who they are; they are encouraged to share aspects of their culture with their educator and other children. ‘Feels Like Home FDC’ embraces all religious backgrounds and incorporates cultural experiences into every day practices and learning experiences. 

At ‘Feels Like Home FDC’ children explore relationships with living and non-living things and are taught to respect and care for their environment. The children develop an awareness of the impact of human activity on their surroundings gaining an increased knowledge for natural and constructed environments. 

‘Feels Like Home FDC’ believes in open communication between educators, children, families and extended families to achieve shared outcomes, encouraging all to be part of the family day care community. 

‘Feels Like Home FDC’ promotes family day care as a leading early education and care option now and into the future.
