I would not recommend this daycare centre. The children are left outside for extended periods, often throughout the day. My son experienced sunstroke, and I had to visit a GP to obtain a medical note requesting that his time in the sun be limited. Despite this, the centre continued to keep the children outside during the hottest parts of the day. When I raised my concerns, the area manager dismissed them, stating there was an ‘open door policy’ where children could choose to be inside or outside. However, young children will almost always choose outdoor play. Especially when there are no engaging activities set up indoors to encourage them inside. Each time I arrived, all children were outside, often with the door shut, removing any real choice. The indoor learning spaces, although well presented, were not being utilised, and materials were not set up. It felt more like supervision in a courtyard rather than a stimulating learning environment. As a result, my child was not engaged or stimulated. I would choose a Montessori setting over this any day. While the centre claims to follow Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies, in my experience, these approaches were not being meaningfully implemented.
